There are many different organizations that have bench press competitions. Some of them seem to differ slightly with regards to what constitutes and qualifies as a good lift. Therefore, there are a few who claim to hold the world record in different categories. After sifting through many contenders, here is what I came up with as the most weight ever bench pressed to date.
The first category is assisted bench. Assisted bench uses a very tight polyester or denim bench shirt that actually assists in the max weight of the bench. Even though it seems like cheating, it is ingrained in the sport and many competitions allow them.
Most assisted bench: Tiny Meeker, from The U.S.A., benched 1,102 LBS on 12/14/13 at the Cajun Hardcore Powerlifting Meet. You can see the Youtube video here. There seems to be some discrepancy in popular opinion on wether this was a good lift. Some feel he did not lock his arms. The next highest assisted bench: Ryan Kennelly pressed 1,075 pounds during the Pride Powerlifting Strength Wars competition at the StarFit gym in Kennewick, Washington on November 8, 2008. You can see the Youtube video here.
The next category is Raw bench, where no bench shirt and nothing to assist the bench is used. Most Raw bench seems to be agreed upon: Krill Sarychev, 27 years old, of Russia benched 335 kg(738.5lbs) RAW Bench Press World Record 2015. You can see the Youtube video here.
Bench pressing has been a staple for determining overall strength in bodybuilding. To increase your bench press, you need to increase mass and strength. Mycustomprotein.com has a pre made blend called Muscle Machine that would contain all the ingredients you need to gain mass and strength. The best ingredients for mass and strength are: Protein, creatine, Beta-Alanine, and BCAA’s. To boost natural testosterone, hence mass and strength, you can also add Mucuna Prurines and cordyceps mushrooms. At mycustomprotein.com, you can go to “build your own shake” and use some or all of these ingredients for your mass and strength supplement blend.
